Zoo York : The Clothing Brand that Symbolises New York City

“Zoo York . it began in the early '70's in the undisputed centre of the Universe. New York” (Zoo York official site)

In the 1970's, the term Zoo York was born from social ideology in New York. Skater revolution, the b-boy beginning, and also the culture of graffiti was taking over New York. The city was the place to be for fashion, art, and music. The tunnel that ran under the New York Zoo was known for being covered with graffiti art, and the term Zoo York was born.

Graffiti artists, musicians, and b-boys all helped brand the Zoo York clothing line we know today. Particularly in the urban clothing market, the Zoo York line has become quite famous. Zoo York is owned by international fashion label Ecko which has established itself as a world leader in urban clothing trends.

The Zoo York label, has a wide range of clothing products ranging from, Mens Hoodies , to T-Shirts and the ever popular Check Shirt. Which has become a firm fashion favourite, some of the most stylish men in the entertainment industry have been seen wearing Check Shirts, such as Pharrell Williams and Kanye West. The Check Shirt always seems to bounce back, and Zoo York have got right in on this trend by producing their own cool version of the fashion staple piece.

Urban style clothing has come on leaps and bounds, inspired by the streets of downtown New York, the urban style is now considered “cool”. Trends such as New Era Caps and Jeans that hang slightly low are considered trendy rather than just simply “street”

The Zoo York clothing brand, although started from humble beginnings has now gone on to become a major player in the evolution of urban fashion in today's society.
